The Public Interest Technology Data Science Corps (PIT-DSC), Welcomes its Inaugural Cohort 

Funded by Public Interest Technology-University Network of New America, the Public Interest Technology Data Science Corps (PIT-DSC), a collaboration between the Department of Statistics, Columbia University, and Lehman College, welcomed our inaugural cohort this week.

21 undergraduate interns and 8 graduate student mentors from Barnard College, Columbia University in the City of New York, and Lehman College will work in groups on summer research projects with real societal impact to improve the lives of communities in New York City. Faculty organizers of this initiative, Tian Zheng, Jennifer Laird, Wayne Tai Lee, and David Rios, will provide their expertise in statistics, social science, data science, machine learning, research, collaboration, and project management.
