Welcome to the MA Statistics program at Columbia University! Here, you will have the opportunity to study with world-renowned faculty and network with phenomenal alumni working in different industries. We take pride in building a sense of community through events and activities to support and strengthen connections among students, staff, and the community as a whole.
To create a truly rich and personalized academic experience, all incoming MA Statistics students are assigned a Faculty Advisor to help with academic matters, including course selection. In addition, you have the opportunity to take a wide range of courses within the Department and from other graduate programs at Columbia University. The MA Help Room provides you with free academic support for courses during the academic year. Students wanting to pursue a career in the industry can attend our curated alumni panels and career-related workshops. Moreover, students who are interested in pursuing a Ph.D. program are encouraged to join the MA2PhD Club, which organizes seminars, journal clubs, faculty meetups, and application workshops, or participate in MA Mentored Research to gain research experience while working towards their degree.
What about funding? We offer academic and merit scholarship opportunities such as the MA in Statistics Opportunity Scholarship, MA2PhD Merit Scholarship, and Graduate Equity Initiative (GEI) Scholarship. Additionally, after successfully completing your first semester, you can apply for paid grader positions and research internships in our Department and on-campus.
