Senior Lecturer in Discipline Position

Position Description:

The Department of Statistics at Columbia University invites applications for a position at the rank of Senior Lecturer in Discipline to serve as Director for the Master of Arts (MA) in the Statistics Program. Reporting to the Chair of the Department, the successful candidate will administer and oversee all aspects of the MA in Statistics program. This is a full-time appointment with multi-year renewal contingent on successful review beginning July 1, 2022 or January 1, 2023.

The Department currently consists of 30 faculty members, 59 PhD students, and over 300 MA students. The Department has been expanding rapidly and, like the University itself, is an extraordinarily vibrant academic community. We are especially interested in candidates who through their research, teaching and/or service will contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community. Qualifications:

• A Ph.D. in Statistics is required.
• Demonstrated excellence in teaching and carrying out administrative responsibilities• At least three years of related administrative leadership experience required, such as program management, academic affairs management, curricular planning and implementation, or staff supervision and mentoring
• Must have excellent leadership, organizational, interpersonal management, and communication skills.
• Must have strong computer skills with proficiency in MS Office, Google Suite of productivity tools, and program evaluation and analysis tools.
• Must be a strong advocate for diversity and inclusion.
• Must be detail and deadline-oriented.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in innovative pedagogy
• Experience in managing a large academic program
• Experience with diversity and inclusion efforts and bridge programs
• Experience working with international students

Adjunct Faculty Positions Starting Fall 2022

Position Description: The Department of Statistics at Columbia University invites applications for adjunct faculty positions for the academic year of 2022-2023. We are looking for experienced professionals with expertise in statistics, probability, computation, and/or data science and an interest in teaching and mentoring curious and energetic students in a statistics classroom. Adjunct faculty teaches at most one course each semester. The department offers a wide range of courses in statistics, probability, and data science at both undergraduate and graduate levels. A robust proportion of our courses are offered in the late afternoons and evenings.

Qualifications: Ph.D. in statistics or a related field by the date of appointment, as is a commitment to high-quality teaching in statistics, probability, or data science. Preference will be given to applicants with previous teaching experiences and strong communication skills.
