Lisha Qiu, Quantitative Strategist at Virtu Financial, Awarded Rising Star at Markets Media Group’s 2024 Women in Finance (U.S.) Awards.

Department of Statistics 2018 PhD Alumni (advised by Professor Phillip Protter), Lisha Qiu, now a Quantitative Strategist at Virtu Financial, won a prestigious Rising Star at Markets Media Group’s 2024 Women in Finance (U.S.) Awards. In response to being named a Rising Star, Lisha Qiu feels honored and excited, and grateful to her colleagues for finding value in her work at Virtu Financial, and in the finance industry as a whole. She is most proud that her colleagues regard her as a creative thinker and a strong collaborator who strives to foster a culture where ideas, knowledge, and technical skills are shared openly among team members. 

Lisha selected quantitative finance as her chosen field because of her love for practical solutions and the ability to move ideas into production; she also loves the fast pace. Quantitative finance is a highly technical field that requires expertise in data analysis, mathematical modeling, and coding. Looking forward within the field of Quantitative Finance, Lisha is excited to think about how big AI models will be applied in finance. Rising Star Lisha Qiu feels strongly that the future of finance will be driven by AI models that may shape the finance industry faster than we think, and that the changes will be revolutionary.
