The Department of Statistics is very proud to announce that two of our Doctoral Students, Seunghyun (Sky) Lee and Ye Tian, have been named winners of the 2025 Student Paper Competition in the Statistical Learning and Data Science (SLDS) Section of the American Statistical Association (ASA)! They will present their papers in a special topic-contributed session at the coming Joint Statistical Meeting 2025.
Seunghyun Lee, was awarded for his paper, Deep Discrete Encoders: Identifiable Deep Generative Models for Rich Data with Discrete Latent Layers, and Ye Tian, was awarded for his paper, Learning from Similar Linear Representations: Adaptivity, Minimaxity, and Robustness.This year, the SLDS Student Paper Award Committee reviewed over 90 eligible submissions. After two rounds of review scoring, only six winners were selected. Congratulations to Sky Lee and Ye Tian on their 2025 Student Paper Competition Awards.
