Congratulations to Bodhisattva Sen and Tian Zheng on being named 2022 IMS Fellows.

Congratulations to Professor Bodhisattva Sen and Professor Tian Zheng on being named 2022 IMS Fellows.

Bodhisattva Sen Named IMS Fellow

Bodhisattva Sen, Professor of Statistics, Columbia University, has been named Fellow of the Institute of Mathematical Statistics (IMS).  Dr. Sen received the award for important contributions to nonparametric inference under shape constraints, optimal transport and its applications to Statistics, and the bootstrap.

Tian Zheng Named IMS Fellow

Tian Zheng, Professor and Chair, Department of Statistics, Columbia University, has been named Fellow of the Institute of Mathematical Statistics (IMS).  Dr. Zheng received the award for fundamental research on sparsity and variable importance, and for significant contributions to social network theory and to genetics.

The designation of IMS Fellow has been a significant honor for over 85 years. Each Fellow is assessed by a committee of their peers and has demonstrated distinction in research or leadership that has profoundly influenced the field.

Created in 1935, the Institute of Mathematical Statistics is a member organization that fosters the development and dissemination of the theory and applications of statistics and probability. The IMS has 4,200 active members throughout the world. Approximately 10% of the current IMS membership has earned the status of fellowship.
