Lunch with Yongchan Kwon – Informal Faculty Talks with MA Students
November 16, 2022 @ 1:30 am - 2:30 am
Find the invitation in the MA Statistics Newsletter for November 9.
Lunch with Professor Yongchan Kwon.
SUMMARY by Milton Lim; MA Statistics Student; President, Columbia Statistics Club:
“Professor Yongchan Kwon completed his PhD in Statistics at Seoul National University and a Post-Doctoral Fellowship at Stanford University. Yongchan at presented his research interests in interpretable machine learning and data valuation through a game-theoretic approach. Using Shapley values to attribute the marginal contribution of each feature allows for more intuitive model explanations. Shapley values are popular because they satisfy the axioms of efficiency, symmetry and linearity. Yongchan’s work has focussed on generalizing these Shapley values, such as Beta Shapley which relaxes the efficiency axiom.”
