SQL Workshop with Professor Charles Lang

About Professor Lang:

Prof. Charles Lang is the Executive Director of the Digital Futures Institute at Teachers College, Columbia University. Charles does research into education technology and has taught data science for the last eight years.

Event Details: To work within the data science industry it is necessary to be able to understand and work with the existing database architecture of an organization. The two hour SQL introductory workshop will cover essential aspects of working with databases to extract and analyze data.    The workshop will cover how to:

• Set up a common database architecture an SQL database in Amazon Web Services
• Connect to that database, reading and writing data
• Use Basic SQL coding to query the database and using an RStudio SQL script, querying an SQL database using dplyr
