ST 430: Probability and Mathematical Statistics II
Spring 2007
General Information
Objectives
ST430 is a sequel to ST420. It builds on material covered in ST420
and completes a first introduction to probability and mathematical
statistics. Similar to ST420, ST430 will focus more on the
mathematical aspects of statistics and little on actual data analysis.
Topics to be covered include:
- methods for parameter estimation
- properties of different estimators
- decision rules and hypothesis testing
- two-sample problems
- goodness-of-fit tests
Prerequisite
ST420 - Enforced
Required Textbook
Intro to Mathematical Statistics and Its Applications, Fourth
Edition, Larsen & Marx, Prentice Hall, 2006.
