Patrick Lowery
Patrick is currently employed by American Express, where he is a Manager in an advanced statistical modeling and data mining team. The team is tasked with developing new and impactful analytical products that address the needs of its clients. Prior to joining American Express, Patrick was employed as a Senior Analyst at a division of Young & Rubicam. At Y&R Patrick was tasked with offering modeling and analytic services to clients. Patrick developed client relationships and grew revenue by offering innovative analytic solutions and data driven marketing strategies.
Steven Shin
After graduating from Columbia, Steven joined the investment management industry as a Risk Analyst for Soros Fund Management. He is now working in a similar position at Tudor Investment Corp. Steven's responsibilities include measuring and managing the market risk, credit risk and liquidity risk of the fund and reporting these risks to portfolio managers and senior management. He also monitors the financial markets in order to assess major changes that could impact his firm's equity, fixed income, currency, and commodity strategies. Steven stated, "I wanted to let you know that the Columbia MA Stat degree has been invaluable in helping me to obtain my current position. The analytical rigor of the Stat program has also provided me with the necessary skills to handle all the quantitative aspects of my work with confidence."
Aditya Vikram Prasad
Xu Xuan
Xu (Vincent) Xuan is working as a Financial Analyst at the CAI Private Equity New York office. Since joining CAI part-time in 2007, he has been involved with a variety of financial and operational matters. His responsibilities include conducting valuation of portfolio companies, preparing quarterly financial statements and assisting the CFO on other operational issues. Prior to CAI, he served as a Valuation Actuary in Taikang Life, a major insurer in China. In addition to his Columbia degree, Xu holds a Bachelors Degree in Economics and Finance from Univerity of Science and Technology of China.
Roslyn Hui
Roslyn Hui is an Actuarial Assistant at AEGIS Insurance in the Actuarial Division. The division provides support on pricing, reserving, reinsurance and investment. She focuses on loss reserve studies, simulation research and benchmark analysis. In addition to her M.A., Roslyn holds a B.A. in Mathematics from the State University of New York at Geneseo.
Deepa Chaudhary
Currently, Deepa works as an Actuarial Analyst with Guy Carpenter (Reinsurance Brokerage Firm). She works in the Property and Casualty industry on various client projects such as treaty pricing, experience and exposure rating and generating biweekly Property Cat Pricing Index reports. Her prior work experience was with GE Capital International Services as Business Analyst in their Actuarial Division, where she worked with reinsurance pricing team on transactional pricing and market studies for various lines of business. Deepa has also completed a summer internship in Pension and Retirement consulting with Buck Consultants and with ICICI Bank Ltd in India. In addition to her degree from Columbia, Deepa completed her Masters in Economics from Delhi School of Economics, India (2003).
Zaur Nurtazin
Zaur works at Morgan Stanley Global Wealth Management as a Performance Analyst, a position he took in September 2007. His duties include custom performance reports, various return calculations, technical assistance to internal clients and some program development. Prior to Morgan Stanley, Zaur worked as an Associate Portfolio Manager at AllianceBernstein. He reports that he is using all the skills he acquired in the Columbia Statistics Program. Zaur's undergraduate degree is from Baruch College (CUNY) in Finance and Investments.
Yuliya Torosjan
Yuliya Torosjan is currently a Data Analyst at Simulmedia, a New York City based media marketing company dedicated to improving the effectiveness of program promotion on television. Prior to completing her Columbia degree, Yuliya was involved in brain imaging research at the Neuroscience PET Laboratory at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine. Her main project was the analysis of neuronal tracts modeled from diffusion tensor data. While she worked at Mount Sinai, she co-authored seven publications in major scientific journals. Yuliya also received a B.S.E. in Computer Science and Engineering and a B.A. in Psychology from the University of Pennsylvania.
Jacob Weaver
Jacob Weaver completed his M.A. in Statistics along with a B.A. in Comparative Literature & Society and Economics from Columbia College. He applied his statistics coursework as an intern at a European long/short equity hedge fund before joining the Corporate Performance Center at McKinsey & Company in September 2009.
Ning Tang
Ning Tang will soon join the New York office of Deutsche Bank as an analyst in the Technology & Operations Group. He will be working on prime brokerage systems. His responsibilities include compiler optimization, risk evaluation and various return calculations. Prior to joining Deutsche Bank, Ning worked at CGGVeritas as an application developer. He holds a master's degree in Computer Science from the University of Calgary in Canada and his undergraduate degree in Computer Science from Jilin University in China.
Jon-Paul Paolino
While enrolled in the M.A. Program, Paul worked at North Shore Long Island Jewish Hospital as a Statistician. His responsibilities included data management, design of experiments and analysis of medical data. Paul has been admitted to Teachers College at Columbia University to pursue a Ph.D. in Measurement, Evaluation and Applied Statistics.
Aussie Haryono
After graduation, Aussie joined The Boston Consulting Group (BCG) as an Associate in the Southeast Asia office system. At BCG, he has worked on various projects in the energy and telecommunication sectors on topics as broad as pricing strategy, consumer insight, and sales & distribution management.
Previously, Aussie worked at Argus Information & Advisory Services, a consultancy firm that specializes in financial service analytics. Aussie also holds a B.A. in Mathematics-Economics and Psychology from Wesleyan University (Class of 2006).
Brian Linde
Brian is in the MA of Statistics Program and will be graduating February 2010. Following graduation, he will work as an Actuarial Assistant for AXA Equitable, where he interned this past summer. Brian did his undergraduate work at Penn, where he graduated with a B.A. in History Magna Cum Laude. In his free time, Brian loves to hike, and is currently chair of the Young Members Committee of the New York Chapter of the Appalachian Mountain Club. He has hiked hut-to-hut in Austria, climbed Mt. Washington, and is looking forward to taking on Patagonia as his next challenge.
